The Dangers Of Sugar

All we need is L❤VE… but a little CANDY can’t hurt, or can it? ????

Did you know excessive sugar intake can cause a plethora of illnesses and even chronic disease?

SUGAR has many toxic effects:

●Increases risk of type 2 diabetes

●Causes depression

●Causes energy/mood swings

●Causes wrinkles (yes… wrinkles!)

●Increases fat storage

●Increases hunger

●Raises cholesterol

●Raises blood pressure

●Restricts blood vessels – which can eventually cause Heart Attack or Stroke

The American Heart Association recommends limiting added sugars:

• Women < 25 grams per day

• Men < 37 grams per day

(For a little perspective, a 12 oz. can of Coke contains 39 grams of added sugar!)

On Valentine’s Day, as a Health and Fitness professional, I wanted to spread the love to my clients without encouraging excessive sugar. So instead of handing out chocolates or candy hearts, I grabbed some markers and made “Conversation Cuties”.

Note: One clementine Cutie has about 8 grams of NATURAL sugar and is also loaded with 200 mg of potassium, 2 grams of dietary fiber, and no fat! As you can see from the smiles on their faces, these naturally sweet treats were a big hit!
